Historial news from this day

Year
2006 The Hatters completed a great escape after avoiding relegation from the Football League on the final day of the 2005/06 season at the expense of Oxford United. A goalless draw against Champions Carlisle United at a packed Edgeley Park ensured the Hatters remained in the Football League. That draw against Carlisle and Oxford United's 3-2 defeat at home to Leyton Orient ensured Jim Gannon's men ended the season in 22nd place in Coca-Cola League Two
