Sunday morning football players wanted Sunday morning football players wanted

D&C Athletic Football Club, members of the East Cheshire Sunday Football League, are on the look out for new players ahead of the 2007/08 season. If you are looking to join a Sunday morning team in the area and fancy helping us to boost our depleted ranks then please read on…..Last season the team finished bottom in Division Two and one of the main reasons behind our struggles was the fact that we failed to put XI men out for a large number of games. When we did manage to get enough players together we were more than capable of competing with the teams challenging at the right end of the Division.

Before the New Year County face three away games at Barnsley, Bristol City and Port Vale along with two home league games against Brentford and Wrexham. If County are still out of the relegation zone after those five games then in my opinion County will not only stay up but we’ll also be free from relegation worry by the end of March.

We were not outplayed by QPR yet we lost the game. We were not on the end of any bad refereeing decisions yet we lost the game. We lost the game for one major reason and one major reason alone. Their players knew what they were doing because they had the ability and confidence in their ability to do their jobs. It’s not a one off swipe at the County teams ability it’s a continuing error that’s going to get us relegated because we’re not good enough individually or as a team.

Firstly may I offer my apologies about the lateness of this weeks article but I thought it was best to let Tuesday’s game wash out of my system first. Due to my current job I am unable to attend most away games so at present my column is fortnightly but IM sure you will all […]

Reading the football section in the paper on a Monday morning used to be a pleasurable experience. Brew in one hand while studying who scored for who against who, and which manager blames him and him for the result – you know the stuff I mean. This morning however I couldn’t take my eyes off […]

A well known football pundit once said “You’ll never win anything with kids”. People said he was wrong when United took the title that season but he was actually right. United didn’t just bring in average youngsters and fill the team with them, they played them in the right games and they did the job. […]

After two weeks of not watching County I was looking forward to the Port Vale game enormously. After a less than pleasing pint of Carlsberg in the supporter’s bar I took my seat for what I expected to be another poor half of football. I was not only shocked but also pleasantly surprised by what […]

I get the Sun newspaper every day so getting it today was no exception. After I checked my Dreamteam ratings and read Palmers moan about the second goal I moved quickly to the ratings section. I had to look twice because I saw that Kevin Ellison had been given a rating of six. A six? […]

You wait all summer for some interesting transfer news and then you go and get two bits in a week. When I heard that Nick Colgan had joined I thought good, at last a solid keeper between the sticks who will earn us a few points. Then a few days later I heard that Lee […]

A summer without football is a bit like a woman who can’t do the ironing. It’s missing something vitally important. The only way I manage through summer is if there’s a World Cup or a European Championship. The summers without are spent scouring the football pages looking at who’s signed who and who’s doing what. Now this transfer window malarkeys a bit of a waste of time in my view but you can see its point.
